Right after Christmas the fireworks started!! There were shipping crates everywhere that had holes cut out of them and overhangs built above them by the side of the street where families and kids could buy every type of firework you could imagine! The shipping crates were painted bright different colors and had either 'no smoking' signs pasted on the sides or funny pyromaniac-like cartoon pictures painted on them! "vuerwerk" is firework in either papimentu or dutch... not sure, but that word was everywhere! :) Then on New Year's Kyle and I could see fireworks from every window in our apartment and there were some being set off right outside! The sound of the night could only be explained as if we were under attack by some foreign invaders and it went on well after we'd fallen asleep! The whole island was bright with different colors, it was beautiful.
