When we saw the ocean we pulled over and realized that we were on the northwest side of the island and wanted to be on the southwest side. Still we found a dirty little beach with hut thingys, boats and construction workers... but the water was gorgeous.
Kyle was looking through all the broken coral and sea glass on the shore and he found a little slug, it wouldn't stop moving so couldn't get a good picture but I though the picture I did get was still cute.
So we decided that we weren't quite frustrated or tired out enough to give up, so we went back the direction we came from until we felt it was a good place to turn. Finally we reached a fork in the road so we asked a construction worker if we should go left or right to get to Portomiri and he told us left... so we trusted him and left we went. We got really excited when we passed a church and a cemetery because those were two of the land marks we'd been looking for. Also, it was all so beautiful!
We finally found Playa Portomiri and we were so relieved! We just laid on the beach and swam in the warm ocean water for three hours or so. it was all worth it.
Turns out the beach is only about 20 minutes from our apartment... go figure. :)
